Front side windows
Driver and front passenger glass must let at least 35 percent of light through. That is the legal floor up front, no exceptions for road cars.

Behind the driver
Rear side windows and the rear screen can drop to 20 percent. It is why a properly done car reads darker at the back than the front.

Windscreen strip
No film across the main viewing area. A visor strip is allowed on the top 10 percent, kept clear of the wiper sweep.
Reflective and mirrored films are not permitted and reflectance is capped. Goods vehicles such as work vans and utes are treated differently and can usually run darker behind the driver. Rules change, so take this as a guide and let Shelley confirm what is legal for your exact vehicle.

Common questions.
How dark can I legally go in SA?
For a standard passenger car, South Australia allows down to 35% VLT on the front side windows and 20% behind the driver. The windscreen only takes a strip across the top. Goods vehicles are treated differently. Shelley can talk you through what suits your vehicle.
When can I wind the windows down?
Film needs a few days to cure, so windows typically stay up for two to three days. Slight haze or small water pockets early on are a normal part of curing.
